Free Meet the Buyer Event – Tameside – 20th to 23rd Sept

Stimulating Local Procurement Event

Stalybridge Market Hall and Civic Centre

20th – 23rd September 2010

“Our aims and objectives are to raise the awareness of the larger Tameside companies about the goods and services that can be provided locally, to raise the awareness of the larger public sector organisations / Building Schools for the Future project to local suppliers in Tameside, to alert local suppliers to the potential new selling opportunities and markets, and to provide a better understanding of who produces what and where in Tameside”. Cllr Kieran Quinn – Executive Leader, Tameside MBC.
Details of the event:-
The event will run over 4 consecutive days starting Monday 20th September 2010 commencing at 12.00 noon and will run through until 7.30pm, allowing people to attend both during and outside of the working day.
Each of the 4 days will focus on different procurement sectors/themes including:
• Meet the Constructors: This will be local trade’s people and businesses coming to speak to major construction companies and major construction projects.
• Meet Education: This will be schools and further education sectors able to meet local businesses, trades people, suppliers, and catering services.
• Meet the Public Sector: This will be Tameside MBC, New Charter Housing Trust, Primary Care Trust, Tameside Leisure Trust, Local Colleges, and so on, meeting local businesses and suppliers.
• Meet the Private Sector: This will be the larger local private sector companies meeting other smaller local businesses and suppliers.
We are working with local buyers to identify the types of goods and services that their organisations currently buy and what goods and services their non-contract spend budget allows them to purchase. We are also asking them to identify what forward tender opportunities will potentially become available to local suppliers during the next 12 to 18 months.
To avoid raising and dashing both buyer and seller expectations we will be looking to match up on a needs against an ability to supply basis across the themed sectors days to provide unique face to face timed appointments for local supply companies.
Some local suppliers may be unable to attend, others may miss out on a one to one appointment if we are oversubscribed or some may simply want to drop by on the day to see what’s happening. In which case they will still have the opportunity to leave literature and business cards with specific organisations on the day to be followed up later.
The Tameside Business Family team will be in attendance throughout the event to offer information on available business support for local companies and to sign up any firms who are not already members of Tameside Works First and Buy with Confidence initiatives. It is also intended each day to run taster awareness sessions on How to Do Business with the Public and Private Sectors as a forerunner to an autumn workshop series.
What you need to do now
Register your interest by clicking here to complete the online form.
What will happen next?
Once you have registered you will then receive nearer the date an online booking form and information pack to enable you to see those confirmed local suppliers who will be attending the event and what goods and services they are looking to buy.
If you then feel you can supply items that match any of the listed requirements you should prioritise the companies you would like to meet for a one to one discussion in order of preference.
We will then do our best to match buyers to sellers.
