City of York Council is encouraging more local and regional Small and Medium Enterprises (SME’s) to bid – and win – business with the authority.

Following the success of previous City of York Council ‘Meet the Buyer Events’, City of York Council has joined forces with Business Link, Chamber of Commerce, and York Professionals to provide a Meet the Buyer event to help support local and regional SME’s.

The event will take place at Guildhall on Thursday 2 September. It will commence at 9.00am and will run until 4.00pm.

The event will have a different format in that suppliers are being encouraged to indicate a preferred time slot before the event.  This will guarantee that suppliers have quality time with the relevant Council Officer regarding their area of business and expertise.

The council’s procurement teams will be on hand throughout the day to explain how businesses can register as a supplier with the Council, bid for contracts, and develop the skills and competencies to market their goods and services more effectively.

Information will be available on using the council’s electronic tendering system and businesses will be able to find out more about what support is available from the authority.
