E-Auctions are NOT a bloodbath, says head of Procurement at Weetabix

Anthony Bowdidge, head of Procurement at Weetabix, has insisted that supplier E-Auctions are not a bloodbath. He says that E-Sourcing (note rather than E-Auction) can be used to benefit suppliers as well as the buying organisation.

Bowdidge who is set to roll out a full purchase to pay (P2P) operation in November for the procurement of production inputs and indirect goods and services.

He described the sourcing tools as effective to negotiate in a competitive marketplace where managing commodity volatility in a difficult consumer marketplace ” is the biggest single issue at this time, as with any other business”

Bowdidge told Foodmanufacture.co.uk in the interview that they only began using the sourcing platform last year. The platform is being supplied by Wax Digital

Bowdidge said that the system would allow 400 engineers and operators to “get on with what they want to do, which is making cereal products”
