Doncaster Council have advise that they are planning a major overhaul of their procurement activities. The council which currently spends over £500m of public money on goods and services are currently in the process of planning a Procurement Transformation Programme.
The Programme which will be formally announced next week, is expected to include initiatives to reduce waste, increase efficiency of processes, produce major scale savings and has the potential to work alongside other councils within the region.
Ocurem understands that the programme will include major collaboration in untouched areas of spend, and will focus on delivery of savings which the council are hoping to be in the tens of millions pounds.
The Procurement Team have got their hands full with this task, but with the right mix of project management, skilled procurement and good stakeholder engagement this could really make a difference to the cost of the front line services delivered by suppliers to Doncaster Council.
